I believe each of us has the inner strength and wisdom to evolve and thrive throughout our lives. We have the capacity to transform any aspect of our lives that is not working for us.  When that natural process gets stuck or what used to work for us no longer fits, we need new tools, information and support in our quest to be our best and brightest Self and create the reality of our dreams.

My approach includes 4 main elements to support your healing and transformation:

The Therapeutic Relationship and Insight Oriented Psychotherapy:

This is the most crucial element in any successful counseling experience because no real and lasting help will be had until trust is established.  You should feel valued, respected, understood and safe with your therapist as well as confident in their ability to help you. This begins to develop with the first conversation on the phone and continues to build during the first few sessions as we evaluate your situation and the issues that are bringing you into counseling. During this initial phase we will also discuss my style and expertise and whether it feels like the right fit.  If it does not, I am happy to offer referrals to other competent professionals in the area.

Once we have gotten through the initial “getting to know you” phase, our conversations are geared toward developing insight into what your obstacles are and how to remove or transform them, allowing you to then move forward to create the life you most desire. While we will address issues from the past, we will not stay focused there for long.  The present is where we are able to make changes and create a better future.

Energy Psychology Education:

I believe we are all responsible for our reality.  Others participate in it, however, we create our own lives. Most of us were never taught how this process works from an energetic perspective and if we had been we might be more satisfied with the results. I incorporate education on this process into my work to help empower my clients to  transform the aspects of their life that no longer work for them.  This is done through discussions and experiences in session as well as homework assignments including mindfulness exercises, meditation, exercise, books and journaling.

EMDR:

This mind/body technique is used to intervene when issues and experiences from the past are interfering with your present life or limiting the possibilities you see for your future. It is one of the best treatments for Post Traumatic Stress and Anxiety Disorders as well as a very effective tool for clearing psychological blocks that keep people stuck in repetitive negative patterns.

Energy Psychology:

Energy techniques help reduce symptoms of stress and trauma by helping people to be more balanced in mind, body and spirit. These practices combine ancient Eastern holistic approaches with modern Western psychology and neuroscience and are some of the most transformative tools I have experienced, both personally and professionally.

There are many types of Energy Psychology practices and I am continually learning and exploring this area.  I discovered Pranic Healing in 2012 and have been offering Pranic Psychotherapy since 2013.

Pranic Healing is a comprehensive system of subtle energy healing utilizing “Prana” in balancing, harmonizing and transforming the body’s energy processes. “Prana” is a Sanskrit word that means “vital life force.” It is a simple, yet powerful and effective, method of energy healing that is actively used and practiced in over 80 countries and numerous healing centers around the world.

Pranic Healing practitioners realign the whole energy system to help initiate specific biochemical changes to accelerate the body’s innate ability to prevent and alleviate a wide spectrum of physical, emotional and psychological ailments. It is based on the fundamental principle that the body is a “self-repairing” living entity, which possesses the innate ability to heal itself. The healing is the process of influencing the “Prana” and to bring about a healthier physical body.

Newer to my work is Comprehensive Energy Psychology (CEP). CEP is a family of methods that combine cognitive interventions with interventions to rebalance components of the human vibrational matrix. It has some of its roots in EMDR and Pranic Healing but offers some unique advantages and is easy for clients to use for self care outside of session. I completed the first level of training in CEP in October of 2019 and plan to continue my training in this area.
